Girls4Sport Named as Finalist for Sportswear Industry's ISPO Brand New Awards
Santa Cruz, CA (PRWEB) July 27, 2007 -- Santa Cruz-based women's performance water wear and sportswear designer Girls4Sport was recently named a finalist for the Summer 2007 ISPO Brand New Awards in Munich, Germany. The international competition pays tribute to innovation in the sporting goods industry, convening a jury every six months to test and rate the best among groundbreaking new products and brands. In its latest round of competition, Girls4Sport was selected as one of five finalists in the sportswear division from a field of 178 companies from 19 countries.
"We're excited to be recognized for our innovation in women's water wear and sportswear," said Kim Ruby, president of Girls4Sport. "We're also honored named a finalist from such a wide field of competitors."
Ruby, along with partners Gary Macbeth and Leanne Riem, founded Girls4Sport in 2003 in response to the lack of quality surf wear designed for women's bodies. "Most surf wear was originally designed for men," said Ruby. "Women's surf wear was typically added as an afterthought, offering only scaled-down versions of men's clothing in hibiscus flower prints. We want to provide women with quality, fashion-forward surf wear designed for real women by real women that combines functionality for a range of water sports with a woman's sense of style."
Girls4Sport's rashguards feature decidedly-feminine tapered cuts, built-in shelf bras for added modesty and support, and extra length in the torso to keep them from riding up. The coordinating bottoms feature wedgie-preventing seams and wide waistbands that provide extra staying power and create a flattering fit. The rashguards, bottoms, and board shorts are all made from super-soft UPF 50+ rated fabrics to provide maximum protection from the sun. The 2007 collection features bold retro graphics and urban-inspired avant-garde prints in hues of pink, brown, blue, and lime green.
Girls4Sport has grown considerably, with sales doubling each year for the last three years. Girls4Sport apparel is sold at over 100 retailers nationwide and is available online at http://www.girls4sport.com
